RE: The tariff classification of Infanrix (Diptheria and
Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis Vaccine Adsorbed)
from Belgium
Dear Ms. Gillis:
In your letter dated July 23, 1998, you requested a tariff
classification ruling.
The subject product, Infanrix , is a sterile combination of
diptheria and tetanus toxoids and three pertussis antigens
adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide. Infanrix is indicated for
active immunization against diptheria, tetanus and pertussis
(whooping cough) in infants and children.
The applicable subheading for the subject product, imported
in bulk form or in measured doses, will be 3002.20.0000,
Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which
provides for: "Vaccines for human medicine." The rate of duty
will be free.
This merchandise may be subject to the requirements of the
Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, which is administered by
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. You may contact them at

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177
of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
